Getting it out of Xero
Companies
- 1In Xero, go to Contacts, then All contacts.
- 2Tick the contacts to bring, or none for all of them.
- 3Click Export, then choose CSV.
People
- 1In Xero, go to Contacts, then All contacts.
- 2Tick the contacts to bring, or none for all of them.
- 3Click Export, then choose CSV.
- 4Bring the same file in as People to add each contact's named person.
Then import the file in Millstone. It recognises a Xero export and shows you every row before anything goes in.
What stays behind
Xero's own lists rarely match a studio's, so they are left out unless yours do.
- Bank details and tax numbers stay in Xero. Only the first address line comes across.
- Each contact's main person only. A row with no first or last name is left for review.

“I am moving my studio from Xero. Walk me through bringing it into Millstone.”
It asks what you use, tells you how to export it, then stages, maps and previews the file. Nothing goes in until you say yes. Importing needs a Full access key.
